Role: Chief Commercial Accountant
Duration: Two Year Fixed Term
Salary: £60,000 to £80,000 per annum
Qualification: ACA, CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA qualification is essential for this position
Location: This role is hybrid, with home working, Warwickshire based Head Office and travel across 3 additional locations as required
Working Hours: Full time, willing to consider 3 or 4 day part time applications with significant experience
Candidate Brief: This role is a really exciting opportunity for the selected candidate to work across 3 business acquisitions, holding sole responsibility for setting up financial process, overseeing risk elements, streamlining financial processes and systems and handling transformation post-acquisition, ensuring that this aligns with wider business. Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions within a small / small to medium organisation environment would be highly beneficial for this position or to have audited SME businesses from a practice perspective.
Duties of the Chief Commercial Accountant:
To monitor performance.
Monitor levels of cash and working capital required in the businesses
Oversee aged debtors in the businesses, prompting subsidiary staff and management
Monitor relative margins and profit per planner between the businesses
Help share best practice between the businesses
Ensure that current processes are efficient and fit for purpose
Monitor effectiveness of computerised financial and other systems
Analyse outsourced services e.g. marketing, finance, payroll, HR, IT
Identify areas of efficiency gains.
Ensure appropriate levels of insurance are in place for each business
Monitor and agree levels of Work In Progress, especially re the earn out periods
To develop monthly management accounting and reporting for each subsidiary.
Provide a modern and efficient financial accounting and reporting service for the Group ensuring information provided is accurate and up to date
Produce monthly management accounts and supporting financial reports for the businesses giving appropriate support, training and advice to management
Develop, implement and maintain appropriate financial policies and procedures
Advance, implement and maintain appropriate financial policies and procedures
Agree the month end and year-end financial reporting timetables with the businesses’ management teams
Ensure that all month end and year end processes, procedures and reconciliations are met within agreed timetables
To develop profit and cash flow budgeting & forecasting for each subsidiary.
Prepare and update a group 5 year cash flow funding forecast for the businesses
Prepare monthly actual/budget variance reports for distribution to budget holders
Implement a system of annual and monthly budgeting
Prepare reforecast budgets as and when required
Liaise with budget holders to ensure they have an understanding of the budget process and to provide assistance when required
Liaise with subsidiary staff, and internal and external advisers and suppliers such as HMRC, accountants, auditors, banks, and outsourced service providers
To develop annual financial accounting.
Produce year end financial statements in preparation for statutory audit
Ensure that all records, reports and reconciliations are in place in time to achieve a smooth and efficient year end audit
Ensure that the relevant accounting regulations are followed and that the financial statements are delivered in a timely fashion
Ensure compliance with UK GAAP
Ensure that all statutory, tax, financial and other deadlines are met
Produce 12 monthly accounts in accordance with the earn out periods for agreement with the former shareholders
Develop and improve integrated accounting systems and procedures
Any other financial or administration tasks that may become necessary from time to time
To work in subsidiary offices or other sites in the UK from time to time as and when necessary
